The Recipe joins Better Bankside for a Thames foreshore clean-up

Last week our team took part in a Thames beach clean, joining fellow Bankside businesses to remove plastic waste from the foreshore as part of Better Bankside's ongoing environmental programme.

Led by Better Bankside's recycling partner Recorra, our team spent the morning working the riverbank, collecting plastic and litter alongside other local businesses and volunteers.

The Thames foreshore collects a surprising amount of plastic waste, much of it washed up from further along the river. Clearing it makes a direct difference to the local environment, as well as the wider marine ecosystem the Thames feeds into.

For our team, the event was also a reminder of what it means to be based in Bankside. We're a member of Better Bankside, the Business Improvement District (BID) that represents and supports businesses across the neighbourhood. Better Bankside runs a wide-ranging programme covering everything from sustainability and street cleaning to community events and business support, all co-created with the people and businesses who work in the area.

Being part of the BID means we're not just operating in Bankside. It's contributing to it, alongside the other businesses, charities and residents who shape the neighbourhood day to day.

We are excited to continue taking part in Better Bankside's environmental and community initiatives, with more volunteering dates scheduled throughout the summer and into the autumn/winter season.
