The Recipe introduces the +1 Effect, turning every event into an opportunity to give back

The Recipe has introduced the +1 Effect, a new initiative designed to turn one extra place at an event into a meaningful contribution to food banks around the world.

Built into every event proposal as a standard contribution, the +1 Effect adds the cost of one additional guest, with 100% of the contribution donated to The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN). There are no administration fees, and clients are free to opt out if they wish.

The idea came naturally from the way The Recipe already works, putting people and food first. Adding the cost of one additional guest is a small gesture, but across a year of events, those small contributions have the potential to make a significant difference.

The Global FoodBanking Network works with food banks in nearly 50 countries, helping to rescue surplus food and get it to people who need it. GFN has served 40.5 million people, prevented 2 million metric tonnes of CO2E and supported

70, 606 community organisations.

The +1 Effect launches this month, with The Recipe set to make its first annual donation at the end of this year. From there, the initiative will become an ongoing part of the company's commitment to making a positive difference through food and events.

Clementine Lowery at The Recipe said: “We wanted to create something simple that could become part of the way we work, without asking clients to do anything extra. One additional guest might seem like a small thing on an event proposal, but when you bring that idea across all the events we cater, it can become a meaningful contribution to an organisation doing incredibly important work.”

The +1 Effect is now part of The Recipe’s event proposals, giving clients the opportunity to make a small addition that can have an impact far beyond the event itself.
